Making Necessary Changes For The New Year

Make necessary changes

As we head into the New Year, social media is filled with people posting their resolutions for the coming year.

Dieting and exercise are two of the most common things being posted. It won’t take long before the excuses begin to appear why those resolutions are going down the drain.

You have to cook for your family, so it’s hard for you to diet. Diet food is too expensive and you are too busy to follow through.

You can’t afford a gym membership, you don’t like going to the gym alone, or you are too busy. Looks like the same list, same excuses, just a different year. I, myself, have made some of those same resolutions and the excuses are very familiar. There was no list of resolutions for me this year, instead I decided to make changes.

Dieting and exercise may be what you need to change but first making changes on the inside may bring about the things you want to change on the outside.

If you are stressed, your life full of clutter and chaos, how can you expect to achieve anything? Start this year by decluttering your life, and change the way you look at yourself.

How you feel inside can truly affect the way you show yourself to others. If you are uncomfortable in your own skin, you project this to the outside world. Let’s begin to change your mindset and make you more comfortable with yourself.

The Time Frame Trap – Are you Participating in the Prediction or Sitting on the Sidelines?

Time Frame trap

I received a message the other day from a client who had a very interesting question. She wondered if one were to dwell on a time frame that they were given, if it might have an effect on the outcome or even make said prediction and time frame NOT come to pass.

Most questions I receive start out simple enough. Will I move? Will I start a new romance? Will my ex and I reconcile? Will I get a job/promotion? You get the idea.

The conundrum is if I get a yes answer, the invariable next question to myself as well as most if not all other readers is, “When do you see that happening?”

I practice horary astrology, so, timing can be done by looking at the significators in the chart and determining their position or degrees away from each other and when they would perfect their aspect.

There are other forms of timing in horary, but I won’t bore you with the specifics.

I also look at one’s natal chart and the transits, lunations and progressed Moon that may trigger an event. Here is where things may get tricky. Once a time frame is given, what is the client to do with it?

One Way You Might Be Trying To Save The World And Don’t Know It

Wasted Food

Two mornings ago when I got up, it was a Sufi Spiritual Retreat day for me, I went to the kitchen to make breakfast, I threw something in the rubbish bin and I saw yogurt my daughter-in-law had thrown out and I burst out crying.

At first I was angry that she hadn’t asked anyone if they wanted it, but as I calmed down I realised it was at its best by date and no one in the house would have eaten it anyway.

I realised that she was very generous with food and so this wasn’t even about her. So what was it about?

How To Say No Without Feeling Guilty

How to Say No

Obligations

We’re now in the silly season, where there are a lot of obligations and commitments. So there’s lots of anxiety around saying “Yes” and “No”.

We have a number of underlying beliefs around saying No and Yes. The martyr in us will say Yes to everyone and everything, feeling burnt out, sick and exhausted at the end. They equate saying Yes with approval seeking and love.

So it may not even be the commitment they are saying yes to, but the approval seeking. There may also be the belief that if they don’t say Yes they will be abandoned and left out.

Removing Your Own Negative Energy

I know you have seen the many web sites out there with someone offering to remove negative energy that is causing the problems in your life.

How do they say it works? You pay them huge amounts of money and they will do the work or a spell from their end.

How do you know they are actually doing anything but taking your money and sitting back waiting for it to hit their bank accounts?

While negative energy can cause you problems in your life, wouldn’t it make more sense for them to tell you how to remove the bad energy yourself and know it works?

Often during readings for my clients I do pick up on negative energy around them, I do not however, offer to remove it for them but instead give them the tools necessary to do their own work.

First is to know how that negative energy is coming into your life. Sometimes it’s our own thoughts and actions. Once you know this, you can begin to remove those thoughts and action from your daily life and move on to more positive aspects. To say you will never have negative thoughts or do something to bring about negative energy would be to say you would have to live in a fairy tale and we know that’s not healthy.

Seeing Winter Anew; Embracing Stillness

Out of the bosom of the Air
Out of the cloud-folds of her garments shaken,
Over the woodlands brown and bare,
Over the harvest-fields forsaken,
Silent, and soft, and slow
Descends the snow.

– Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

To those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, we move towards December’s coming of winter.  We equate winter with harshness, cold and stillness. Indeed, it’s the time when the blossoms, trees and world have gone into hibernation, rest and retreat.   But to many cultures, winter represents potentials building within a cyclical womb.

In the last ever panel of one of my favourite cartoons (Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson), the two main characters embark across a snowy scene with their sled, marveling about the gleaming snow.  “It’s like having a big sheet of paper to draw on,” muses Hobbes, to which Calvin replies, as they head off into the sea of white, “A day full of possibilities, it’s a magical world, Hobbes ol’ buddy…. let’s go exploring!”

Life is full of beginnings and endings, and though we fear endings, an end represents a beginning.  When I painted this scene of a tree standing in a winter landscape, I had the idea to leave half of the image blank and white, “it’s like having a big sheet of paper to draw on,” an untapped potential… something ripe and ready for creation in the right time.

Debunking Some of the Myths About Astrology

myths about astrology

I was recently contacted by a high school student who was working on a class project about Astrology.

She was given an assignment to interview someone who studied and / or practiced astrology professionally, which ultimately led her to me.

Although her questions were geared more toward the reasons people “believe” in astrology than about it what it actually entails, they were respectful and insightful enough that I was inspired to indulge her.

The following is our interview in the format it was presented. Due to space constraints, it’s only a small sampling of the many myths we were able to debunk. But we’ll be looking at more of those in the coming weeks. For now though, here’s the interview in its original form.

Are You Deeply In Love With Someone Who Doesn’t Love You Back?

One of the top questions I get asked as an Intuitive is from women in relationships with men who don’t love them back, or don’t treat them well. I get this question from men too.

Deep down they know they deserve better treatment, or a reciprocal level of interest, but the Soul destroying part for them is they can’t understand why they can feel soooooo in love and he doesn’t feel the same way back.

The love you feel is heavenly and surely this man must be your Soulmate, all your ducks are lined up and your heart says, he’s the one.

Learning Tarot: Picking a Deck to Work With!

tarot decks

So you’ve decided you want to learn to read Tarot! Good for you!! And maybe you’ve already bought a deck and tried giving it a go and thought “gee, I thought it might have been a little easier” or “something doesn’t seem quite right”.

This could be for a number of reasons though.. but rather than get into every single what-ifs, let’s just focus on what if it’s not the right deck for you?

Some decks are a little more visually intensive than others and some extremely minimalistic.

But when starting out, you’ll want to find something that really speaks to you but doesn’t overwhelm (or even underwhelm) you!

That is going to be the main reason why you stick or don’t stick with learning Tarot. It won’t be having to learn what the cards mean, that just comes from practice! But it’s more the way that the cards tell you things; and tell you them accurately!
