Tarot Card of the Week; The Hierophant

HierophantTarot of the Week: Aug 22 – Aug 28, 2016
The Hierophant

This wonderful card from the Housewives Tarot represents the Hierophant.

Back in the old days when we needed information, we could consult our programming guide and then switch on one of these big huge RCA TV sets and we could watch those cathode ray tubes come to luminous life; transmitting information, news and entertainment right into our living room.

The Hierophant brings important information

No need to adjust your rabbit ears or wiggle your antenna for better reception because this week information is coming to you, the message will be loud and clear- but are you willing to look at the information and take it in even if it’s not what you expect or want to hear?

The element of this card in focus for the week is that of knowledge, of expanding information, of getting answers and truths. You’ve been searching for answers and now you’re finding information and clarity in the very things that have impacted you most and are especially relevant.

Information comes in different ways

New information could come to you in conventional ways (and good old fashioned study and educating yourself) or through information you research on your own,  but it might also arrive in the form of an intelligent and helpful mentor or friend who helps you on your way.

Tarot Card of the Week: The Moon

The Moon

Tarot Card of the Week: Aug 15, 2016  – Aug 21, 2016

The Moon

This week we have a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius and what better card to depict the powerful energy that accompanies it than the Moon card from the the fabulous Shakespeare Oracle?

The Moon card traditionally speaks of struggling with feelings of anxiety over something that just doesn’t seem to be panning out they way you’d planned.

It represents our unconscious hopes and fears and is loaded with shadow material. This card tells us that things are uncertain, unsettled and unfinished and that the outcome is still very much up the air.

The Moon in this version is portrayed by Shakespeare’s Three Witches, who foretold MacBeth’s fate early on in the tragedy of the same name.

The “Weird Sisters,” (as they were also known) were mysterious, ambiguous and contradictory, much like the Moon in the night sky.

Tarot Card of the Week: Two of Cups

Two of Cups

Tarot Card of the Week: Aug 1, 2016-August 7, 2016

Two of Cups

One of the most common things I hear from people is about the future of a new relationship.

If you are looking for love or have recently met someone then this is the card you want to draw as a present or future card in a reading. This week’s tarot card is the Two of Cups from the Radiant Rider-Waite Tarot.

On this card two lovers are facing each other, offering their cups and sharing their feelings. The beginning of a new relationship can be an exciting time! We are, of course eager to know how this relationship will unfold!

There is alchemical energy in this card – It depicts the beginning of the bonding process. The future energy of this relationship is determined by how things are in the present and the other cards surrounding it.

This card can also indicate reconciliation, partnership and harmony and cooperation. Or a situation where there is a meeting of minds, heart and souls. The Two of Cups is about the power of love in all its forms and its uniting force.

Tarot Card of the Week: Four of Wands

Four of Wands

Tarot Card of the Week: July 25 – Aug 31, 2016

Four of Wands

If you look back over the past several months, what would you say your greatest accomplishments would be?

This image — from the Fantastical Tarot’s Four of Wands — shows your imagination running away with you and perhaps there is something that was left out for you that you wish to carry over into the coming months.

Do not be concerned that you have failed in any way as the timing may have been that you laid down the groundwork for your dream and are now coming up to a point where you can release it.

The garden (your plan) is well tended. You have laid out some very impressive groundwork in getting yourself started.

The four pillars are lined with symbols of growth alongside the green beacons which further shine for you and give you inspiration. The Four of Wands represents the completion of a goal: something you set your mind to and saw to fruition.

The hill in the background is vividly green even under the light of a full moon at night and this implies that you will find the answers you seek for you plan without much need for more searching.

Tarot Card of the Week: Eight of Pentacles

Eight of Pentacles

Tarot Card of the Week: July 18, 2016  – July 24, 2016

Eight of Pentacles

This is a good week for you to tap into your creative potential and throw yourself into your very own personal labor of love.

This isn’t about punching a clock somewhere and wishing the day was over so you could get back to whatever it is you really enjoy. It’s about finding that thing you truly want to do and figuring out a way to turn it into a livelihood.

The Eight of Pentacles — this version from the beautiful Shadowscapes Tarot by Stephanie Pui-Mun Law — is first and foremost a craftsmanship card. It refers to honing and refining your craft in a way that only you can. What better representation of this is there than a spider spinning a web?

There is perfection in the imperfection, as seen in the elegant gossamer strands that interconnect with one another to create a masterpiece.

The “pentacles” in this rendition are eight shimmering stars woven into this spider’s web. The morning light reflects off of them — a testament to this spider’s early start. She wouldn’t rise so early to do something she didn’t want to do, and ideally neither would you.

Tarot Card of the Week: Ace of Cups

Ace of Cups

Tarot Card of the Week: July 11 – July 17, 2016

Ace of Cups

The Ace of Cups — this version from the beautiful Secret Language of Birds Tarot — is all about romance, affection, flirtation, intimacy, communion and most of all love.

And what better card to describe this week’s transit of both Mercury and Venus moving into the warm, dramatic and benevolent sign of Leo?

Aces represent new and unformed energy. As Cups refer to emotions, intuition and feelings, it’s likely to manifest on one of these levels.

It’s all about seeing your capacity to love and express feelings mirrored right back to you — through a new love interest, a friend or family member, or the eyes of a child.

You may be starting a new relationship or expressing yourself romantically — whether or not a serious relationship develops from that flirtation. As with all Aces, the energy is so new and so unformed that a myriad of possibilities is completely within your reach.

Tarot Card of the Week: Three of Pentacles

dmoon3pent1

Tarot Card of the Week: July 4, 2016  – July 10, 2016

Three of Pentacles

Now is the time to put your head together with others and work on bringing something you’re passionate about to fruition.

The Three of Pentacles — this version from Patrick Valenza’s fabulous Deviant Moon Tarot — is a “teamwork” card, among other things. It refers to that extra push that’s needed to set something in motion and getting to ready for lift off.

It’s about hitting your stride and seeing initial results of something you’ve been working hard on. Sometimes you need help to take it to the next level, even if that comes in the form of a critical eye.

The Three of Pentacles — like all threes — refers to the initial stages of progress that comes with taking an idea (as seen in the Aces) putting it into production (as seen in the Twos) and are making it into something tangible and real (as seen in the Threes).

The imagery in this card describes this process beautifully. We see three half-formed figures all actively creating one another and all benefiting from the help they receive from their peers. Each of them contributes to the other and each receives help in the process.

Tarot Card of the Week: The Hierophant

RW-VTarot Card of the Week: June 27 – July 3, 2016

The Hierophant

The Hierophant is the fifth card of the Major Arcana. This card, from the traditional Rider Waite Tarot, depicts a stoic man on a throne between two pillars.

He is wearing a crown, with one hand raised as if giving a blessing. In the other hand is a staff, sometimes referred to as a cross or holy trinity. At his feet appear to be two people seeking his wisdom or blessing.

According to the dictionary, the word Hierophant comes from the Greek, meaning an official expounder of rites of worship and sacrifice. In tarot, he is often referred to as The Pope, the Magnus of Eternal Rulership and is associated with Taurus.

It may seem odd the Hierophant represents Taurus the bull since it is often represented by a holy man. However, since his main purpose is for balance and grounding, it makes more sense.

Tarot Card of the Week: The Sun

crystal-tarot-sun

Tarot Card of the Week: June 20, 2016 – June 26, 2016

The Sun

The Sun moves into Cancer this week (on Monday, June 20, 2016), marking the onset of the Summer Solstice as well as the longest day of the year.

This is measured by the amount of time between Sunrise and Sunset for those in the Northern Hemisphere; it’s exactly the opposite (Winter Solstice and shortest day of the year) for those in the Southern Hemisphere.

When we think of the Sun, we think of warmth, light and life. It warms our spirits as well as our bodies; it brightens our moods as well as the outside world, and it brings life to our dreams and goals as well as to every living thing on the planet.

The Sun card in the Tarot is much the same way. It refers to the wonder and glory of being alive. Of feeling warm, confident, radiant and spirited. Its attitude is that “everything is as it should be” today, for you and in the world around you.

The Sun in this card — from the gorgeous Crystal Tarot — smiles down on two tiny cherubs who reach up to partake in its warmth. They are “in the moment” basking in the Sun’s vibrant glow and partaking in the earthly bounty that is theirs for the taking.

Tarot Card of the Week: The World

the WorldTarot Card of the Week: June 13 – June 19, 2016

The World

This week’s card ‘The Worlds’ is drawn from one of my favourite decks ever; The Victorian Fairy Tarot. Here we see a beautiful fairy glen, a scene of luminous celebration. Glowing fairies dance in a circle (a mushroom “fairy-ring” just as we might find out in the garden!) as bluebells bask nearby in the moonlight. We first see this fairy glen in the very first card of the deck, “The Fool” in which our adventurer steps innocently into the unknown, into the same patch of bluebells and magic at the start of the journey.

But this week, we’ve come a long way from our time of innocent beginnings. We’ve put in a lot of hard work and a lot of distance has been traveled, a lot of obstacles have been overcome or will be overcome soon. The human city visible off in the distance in this card shows us just how far we’ve come. It’s time to celebrate and honour all the things you’ve learned and the amazing progress you’ve made and to see with honest eyes and and open heart just how much progress you’ve made!

It’s easy to get caught in the trap of, “well I still have a lot of growing to do…” or, “I haven’t made as much progress as I want in this one area,” but this card is reminding you that in this time of new chapters and new beginnings, it is just as important to see where you have BEEN as to be excited about where you can still go.

Tarot Card of the Week: Ace of Swords

Morgan Greer - Ace of Swords

Tarot Card of the Week: May 30, 2016-June 5, 2016

Ace of Swords

If there is something you need to tackle this week, make sure you have your facts straight first.

The Ace of Swords — this version from the beautiful Morgan Greer Tarot — denotes thoughts, mental agility and the use of these things in your life.

It may be that you are trying to decide something and need to weigh up both sides of your decision to see what options you have or it may be that you are “hit” with a new idea or thought and want to get it off the ground before the momentum leaves.

Either way this is a great time to flex your mental agility and perhaps put some of it to the test. If there is anything you have been putting off that requires concentration on your part then you may that that comes more easily for you this week.

You may be quite surprised with what you come up with as the image of the sword in this card looks so solid and stable. As it cuts its way through the crown you can see there are two different versions of greenery being shown.

Tarot Card of the Week: Two of Cups

SM-2C

Tarot Card of the Week: May 23, 2016 – May 29, 2016

Two of Cups

Venus enters Gemini this week and brings with it opportunities for you to connect with your “other half.”

Whether you’re in a relationship or just looking, the Two of Cups — this version from the Sun and Moon Tarot — is all about falling in love, either opening yourself up to new experiences or reigniting a connection with someone you’re already involved with.

It’s this process of falling in love that reveals to us — in perfect clarity — ourselves at our very best. It’s where we put our best version of ourselves forward and the Universe responds by opening up unanticipated doors.

The Two of Cups is known as the “Love” card. It refers to that love at first sight sense of finding your other half. It’s the mutual attraction card, the “soul mate” card, and so much more. It can represent the process of falling in love or renewing a love connection that is capable of replenishing itself over time.

There’s a synergy that pulls two people together and echoes their feelings back to one another. In this respect the Two of Cups is more about falling in love with yourself, as seen through your partner’s eyes.
