The Phoenix affirmation: I welcome opportunities to rise above adversity.
The card selected for today’s tarot scope is the Phoenix card from the incidental Tarot, by Holly DeFount. This deck was self-published in 2012.
The Incidental Tarot is an original art Tarot deck, featuring gorgeous and esoteric images. The artwork of the Incidental Tarot has been widely praised and has attracted an enthusiastic audience of Tarot-philes since it was first conceived and published.
While this deck is currently out of print, you can still find examples of Holly’s gorgeous art through her Etsy storefront.

The Phoenix card is this deck’s version of the Tower card. It is the 16th numbered card in the Major Arcana, situated between the Devil and the Star. It correlates astrologically to the planet Mars.
The Tower card is associated with change, upheaval, destruction, and sudden, unexpected disruptions. The focus on the Phoenix card in this deck is more about what comes after all of the above, in other words, salvation.
It’s a trial by fire card, one that emphasizes the metamorphosis that occurs when one “rises from the ashes” and becomes a stronger, better version of themself.
