The High Priestess
This week’s card — in honor of the New Moon at 19° Libra — is the High Priestess card, this version from Anna Klaffinger’s gorgeous Anna K. Tarot.
The High Priestess represents intuition, serenity and wisdom. She encourages you to seek guidance from within and to heed your inner voice. In this respect you may need to find your place of quiet and solitude in order to best access her messages.
She represents psychic impressions and psychic experiences, such as astral travel, lucid dreams or déjà vu experiences. While that may be a bit unnerving for you at first it can open up doors for you that you never dreamed possible.
The High Priestess is a strong feminine energy — regardless of gender. It speaks of feminine strength and wisdom and all the secrets of the Universe unveiled.
The High Priestess in this card is seated at the edge of a deep, dark pool. A portion of her robes are submerged in the water, and an old tree rises from its depths.
The first half of the lunar cycle — from New to Full Moon — arcs across the night sky in this image. The New Moon rests in her lap while the Full Moon is partially obscured behind the branches of the tree.
This waxing cycle of the Moon represents a period of sewing (in contrast to the waning cycle, which represents a period of reaping). It speaks of getting in touch with your higher self — divorced from the limitations of ego or worldly desires.
You may be getting more in touch with your own intuition, or thinking about delving into the mystery schools — learning tarot, astrology, numerology, etc. Or you may find yourself experiencing profound instances of déjà vu or synchronicity.
You may also be experiencing bursts of creativity and inspiration. Another possibility, one that comes unexpectedly, is a sudden onset of clairvoyance or psychic impressions.
The High Priestess refers to getting in touch with your intuition. Listening to your inner voice. Heeding your psychic impressions. And tapping into the vast reservoir of wisdom that you may not have taken the time to nurture in recent months.
While you may be apprehensive about exploring those realms, the answers to your most pressing concerns are right there at your psychic fingertips, if you only you allow yourself to trust in them.
