May Horoscopes

Happy Birthday Taurus!

Here are some astrological highlights for the month ahead.

Lunations: Moon Phases for the entire month. This Month’s Full Moon occurs on May 4th at 13° Scorpio 32′.

The New Moon takes place on May 18th at 26° Taurus 55′.

Retrogrades: Mercury turns retrograde on May 19th at 13° Gemini 05′; Saturn and Pluto are both retrograde for the entire month of May.

Ingresses: Mercury enters Gemini on May 1st; Venus enters Cancer on May 7th; Mars enters Gemini on May 12th; the Sun enters Gemini on May 21st.

AriesAries — March 21-April 19:  You’ve got a lot on your plate this month — and a lot of people relying on you, most of whom will be vying for your attention all at once. With your ruler (Mars) moving through your financial sector, along with the Sun and New Moon, the issue may partly be money — as in taking care of household expenses or having to bankroll someone else’s dream. The good news is that you’re capable of making money hand over fist. But the bad news is that you may see it going out almost as soon as it comes in. Mars isn’t particularly happy in Taurus and you may be feeling frustrated in the early part of the month as a result. You want to make things happen and Mars in Taurus likes to slow things down. You may feel like you’re under a great deal of pressure, that you’re spread very thin, and that there’s not enough of you to go around. But you’ll also have the chance to step up and take charge — something you do very well. That all changes around the 12th, when Mars moves into Gemini and your 3rd house. From that point forward (aside from minor hiccups on the 15th and 26th, it should be relatively smooth sailing. You can make a lot of headway toward achieving your goals if you set your mind to it.

Moon in Aries:  May 14, 15 and 16

TaurusTaurus — April 20-May 20:  It’s going to be important for you to pay attention to your finances this month. Both Saturn and Mercury will be retrograding through your money houses, Saturn for the entire month and Mercury starting on the 19th. You may run into unexpected expenses or see old debts come due. Careless spending from your past may come back to haunt you — especially around the 3rd when these two planets move into opposition. In the meantime, Mars is in your sign until the 12th, when it too moves into your money sector. This is not the time to make major purchases — in fact you want to just curb your spending for the entire month. Relationships should be fun and flirty with both of your relationship rulers spending part of the month in Gemini. You want to keep things lively and playful rather than serious or intense. There may be a couple bumps in the road — especially around the 15th and the 22nd. You can avert some of the tension that build during that time by tackling problems head on rather than letting them fester and burn. The New Moon in your sign right in the middle of these two hot spots can be a blessing in disguise. It gives you an opportunity to wipe the slate clean and start anew.

Moon in Taurus: May 16, 17 and 18 (New)

GeminiGemini — May 21-June 21: Your ruler Mercury spends the entire month in your sign, starting on the 1st. It joins Venus and then later on both Mars and the Sun. All this Gemini emphasis should have you feeling right at home. It means there’ll probably be lots of mental activity, multitasking and social interactions. This is a time when you can get a lot done, especially in the early part of the month. Aside from the 3rd and 4th that is, when Mercury opposes Saturn. At this time you may be forced to answer some hard questions about your relationships. Are you getting what you need from your partner? Are you making sure your partner’s needs are met? Are you fulfilled in your relationship (or relationship status)? These are the questions you want to be asking yourself at this time. If the answer is no, it’s time to make changes. The breaking point could come between the 12th and 15th when Mars moves into your sign and then opposes Saturn. The desire to break free from anything that feels restrictive or oppressive becomes overwhelming at that time. Mercury turns retrograde on the 19th, which can complicate matters. While it’s a good time to hash things out in your head, it’s not so good for making decisions. Take the time now to figure out what you want so you can act on those decisions later.

Moon in Gemini: May 18, 19 and 20

CancerCancer — June 22-July 23: You may feel like you’re on the outside looking in this month, with a lineup of planets all moving through your 12th house. This area relates to fears, inhibitions and insecurities, among other things. It may feel like you have one foot in the door and one foot out as you scan your environment for potential pitfalls. But you’ll find that you’re missing out on opportunities if you let your fears hold you back. You start the month with Venus and Mercury in this area, soon to be followed by Mars and the Sun. You may be figuring out where you fit in in your social circles early on and where you need to retreat and take time for yourself later in the month. See these transits as stepping stones that can lead you to a better understanding of what makes you happy. The spotlight shines on your love life starting on the 7th when Venus moves into your sign. But your relationship ruler (Saturn) is retrograde, forcing you to deal with ghosts from the past. Whether these come in the form of actual people, or just old wounds that need to be healed, you’re going to have to address them. The good news is that you’re on the verge of a new relationship cycle and all this tying up loose ends now will help will steer the way clear for that.

Moon in Cancer: May 20, 21 and 22

LeoLeo — July 24-August 23: You’re going to be focusing more on your career this month and less on your personal relationships. With the Sun and Mars (and the New Moon on the 18th) moving through your career sector, and some testy aspects activating your relationship sectors this month, it may best to keep your focus on what should be going well. Jupiter is direct now and is now zooming through your sign, making it a great time to show the world what you’re made of. You may not even have to “ask” for it: career opportunities could just fall into your lap. But working with manifesting and law of attraction principles is always recommended. Align yourself with these transits to make the most of them. Your ruler (the Sun) is well aspected to Pluto in your work sector and paving the way for you make great strides in this area. While it’s not perfect — it never is — these aspects are all in some way tied to putting your best foot forward. Unfortunately, your professional focus may interfere with your relationships. A hard aspect between retrograde Saturn in your romance sector and Mars in your social sector says you’re going feel pressured into making a choice. You may have to do some damage control, but if you’re proactive you’ll find that you really can have it all.

Moon in Leo:  May 21, 22, 23 and 24

VirgoVirgo — August 24-September 22: Things should be on the up-swing for you this month with several planets either in or moving up toward your Midheaven. This is a prominent sector related to career, reputation, public standing and “fame.” It’s the area you both aspire to and receive recognition for, so you’ll want to be on your toes. Your ruler (Mercury) is there on the 1st, joining in with Venus, with the Sun and Mars not far behind. These are “idea” transits: if you’ve been thinking of starting a new project, sending out resumes, or polishing your professional image, this is the time to do it. Mercury does turn retrograde in this area though — on the 19th — and as always you want to be mindful of the potential for things to go haywire. You may be shifting gears in the romance department too, with both Saturn and Pluto retrograde. As these planets turn direct in the coming weeks problems will get ironed out with little or no effort on your part. More defined plans will start to take shape, in the “where do we go from here?” vein. For now though, consider it an opportunity to heal old wounds and resolve old conflicts. You may want to suspend any major decisions while these three planets are retrograde and resign yourself to fixing things at a later date.

Moon in Virgo: May 25, 26 and 27

LibraLibra — September 23-October 22:  If you’re planning on doing any traveling this month, take time to put a Plan-B in place as there are bound to be snafus. Venus (your ruler) and Mercury (your travel ruler) are both moving through your 9th house — the area associate with education, higher mind pursuits and foreign travel. That’s the good news. These transits are excellent for taking a trip, going back to school or publishing an important paper. The not so good news is that Mercury is turning retrograde, which means unexpected hiccups or travel related delays. It’s not a good time to sign contracts or make major decisions related to training or education. It’s also not great for making plans that require you to meet tight deadlines. Those Gemini planets are all about having fun and satisfying your curiosity, but can also be helpful for rolling with the punches rather than adhering to strict schedules.  You’ll probably be bursting at the seams with ideas, and may be impatient to put them into action. But don’t be surprised if all this multi-tasking lands you in a pickle on the job. Doing the work of two or three people, being called out for overstepping your bounds, making careless mistakes, etc: these are all possibilities with this aspect, especially as it conjunct Mars later in the month. Your best bet is to go with the flow and leave room for the unexpected.

Moon in Libra: May 1, 2, 3, 27, 28, 29 and 30

ScorpioScorpio — October 23-November 22: Love is in the air for you this month! With your romance ruler (Neptune) in its own sign and the Sun, Mars and New Moon all taking place in your relationship house, you’ll be sending out “vibes” whether you realize it or not. Add to that Venus in Gemini in your sex and intimacy sector and you may be seeing fireworks in the bedroom.  If you’re in an existing relationship, these transits can bring you closer to your partner and enhance the connection. And if you’re not already involved they can bring new prospective partners in. Those 7th house planets should have you feeling more sultry and sensuous, which makes you more attractive to others. The 5th house Neptune and 8th house Venus — especially in the early part of the month — can also have you feeling more creative and expressive.  There are definite elements here of needing to put the past to rest though. Whether that means past relationships or unresolved feelings that no longer serve you. You’ll want to focus on forgiveness and let go of old resentments. Get this done early on, because there are hard relationship aspects around the 22d that can catch you completely off-guard. It’s out with the old and in with the new this month, and not a moment too soon.

 Moon in Scorpio: May 3 (Full), 4, 5, 30 and 31

SagittariusSagittarius — November 23-December 20: In the early part of the month, you’re going to focusing on work and health-related issues. There’s much to be done on the career-front: either you’re scrambling to find work, pushing to beat a deadline or tying up loose ends on a project you’ve had in the works for some time. This isn’t about obligations you have toward others: it’s about making improvements on your own that are in line with your high standards. Health-wise though, it’s a different story. You could be so involved in work that you end up neglecting your body. A health-scare can act as a wake-up call or at the very least get you thinking about taking better care of yourself. With Mars and the Sun moving through your health sector and a retrograde Saturn opposing the Sun later on, your vitality may be low and you may feel more like sleeping than “doing.” But of course this isn’t going to get you anywhere. You may need to get off on your own and commune with nature or find a way to shut out all the distractions that are depleting your energy. The New Moon on the 19th is a good time for you to get back into some kind of exercise regimen or health-related routine. You’ll be feeling better about yourself and all that you’ve accomplished once you start seeing results.

Moon in Sagittarius:  May 5, 6 and 7

CapricornCapricorn — December 21-January 20: This should be a busy month for you in the career and personal development areas, even if you feel like you’re spinning your wheels at times. You’re going to be bursting with energy and ideas and will be looking for positive outlets. This would be good time to enroll in a class, take an on-line course or embark on a self-study program. There’s some danger of getting side-tracked — especially with both your ruler (Saturn) and Mercury being retrograde this month. You know the old saying: “life happens when you’re busy making other plans.” A heart-felt discussion with a loved one can clear the air around the 7th. You may be feeling vulnerable, but as long as you’re sincere a lot of healing can be done. The Sun and Mars are moving through your romance sector and Venus is moving through your relationship sector for the better part of the month. This has you way more interested in making love than war. But with Pluto in your sign and opposing that Venus on the 22nd it won’t be all hearts and flowers. You have positive romance transits all the way up to that point, when things can go a little haywire. Hold off on trying to “fix” things, at least until the 25th, and even then you might want to just leave well enough alone.

Moon in Capricorn: May 7, 8, 9 and 10

AquariusAquarius — January 21-February 19: Things are looking up for you in the love-department this month. With Jupiter moving forward in your relationship sector and Mars, the Sun and New Moon all moving through your romance sector, you could be ironing out the kinks in a union that’s been faltering, or you could be bringing new romantic potentials in. If your relationship is wobbly or if you feel like you’ve been jumping through hoops just to satisfy your partner’s demands, you may need to look at whether it’s worth holding onto period. This is a positive transit, even if you have to make some uncomfortable decisions in the midst of it. Jupiter is moving into trine with your ruler (Uranus) which is well placed in your 3rd house — the area related to communications and ideas. This transit paves the way for better communications with your partners and for asserting your needs. Your romance ruler (Mercury) also turns retrograde this month (on the 19th), which may connect you with someone from your past. This transit relates to unfinished business but doesn’t mean you should be hooking up with someone you had a reason for ending things with in the first place. What’s important now is whether you’re contributing to each other’s evolution as you embark on this next chapter in your life.

Moon in Aquarius: May 10, 11 and 12

PiscesPisces — February 20-March 20: This month you may be trying to figure out where to put certain people in your life. Are they friends? Lovers? Casual acquaintances? As much as you’d like to roll with the punches and let things take their natural course, you’ll probably be forced to define your relationships with others. Unfortunately this can also manifest as cutting people out of your life for good — but not without cause. With Mercury, Saturn and Pluto all retrograde at least part of the month — and with all these of these planets tied in some way to your friends and lovers departments — it’s going to be challenging for you to define the roles that certain people assume. You may also find yourself having to redefine those roles as the days move on. Your ruler is dignified in Pisces and very well aspected so at least you’re getting a better understanding of who you are. But it’s through these uncertain connections with others that you’re most capable of figuring that out. It’s as much about deciding what you don’t want as it is deciding what you do. You have been let down in recent weeks by a friend or lover and feel the urge the cut this person out of your life. But with your relationship ruler retrograde, it’s best to hold off and make that final determination down the road.

Moon in Pisces: May 12, 13 and 15
